SNOW!SNOW!SNOW!!!!

Well the snow has finally started piling up after a 2 week hiatus. Over the past couple of days, I've had some of the best runs in recent memory. Late Monday morning, the Olympic Express opened after being closed on Sunday due to high winds. Myself, Colin from Alterna Films, and Derek from Rome Snowboards all met up and made sure that we were on that first chair ride up to sample that 2 feet of fresh snow. We managed to get 2 laps down the Peak without even seeing anyone else! On the third lap, the word had spread that Olympic was open. We managed to get several amazing runs down Hades before we called it a day. Our legs were pretty beat by then.

On Monday, the Paradise Jib park was also rebuilt. The park crew did an excellent job getting this done. We need a bit more snow to start building in the Quiksilver Park and Rookie Park but it is not too far off.

07/08 Team

While you are viewing our brand new site, make sure to check out our new Team section. Each member has a profile and mini slide show. As the season progresses we will be adding more photos to this as well as to our park photo galleries.
Returning this season are JF Fortin, Jesse Fox, and Chris Dufficy. New to the pro line up is Vancouver local Johnny Lyall! When you see them shredding up the hill, don't be shy to approach them. They all enjoy high fives and shredding with fellow locals. If you ever want to find them, you will probably run into Duff and Jesse in Starbucks and everyone else shredding pow lines with their friends in the Olympic Chair zone.

This season we have expanded our am team roster. We have added a few more up and coming local shredders. Returning for another season is Tamo Campos. You can see him training in the parks as a member of the BC Team. New for this season are Barry Hartman, Jenelle Pritchard, and Graham Haywood. Jenelle is the first female to our team and Graham is the first skier!

Welcome aboard all new members!

Team members will be posting updates and stories of their latest Grouse excursions throughout the season so keep checking back.

Paradise Jib Park Opens

Grouse Mountain's 81st winter season officially opened November 27th with the Paradise rope tow and Jib Park open for business. We have since opened up The Screaming Eagle quad chair and The Cut and are anxiously awaiting more snow so we can get going with the park builds.

One of our byop faithfuls, Andrew Prost, provided this photo of the first jib park set-up.

Opening Soon.....

Well we are busy making snow up the mountain. This photo is from this week. As you can see, our snowmkaing fleet is in full operation with man-made snow quickly piling up. Our entire fleet is in operation with all our major runs getting covered.
A little extra help from Mother Nature will definitely speed up the opening process but in the meantime we're watching the snowmaking pay off.

Park Sessions Blog is officially launched

Alright all you park rats, this is the official blog for all things about Grouse Mountain parks. Make sure to check back regularly to get updates on park construction, team, events, byop and general park gossip and news.

Myself, Cashen and his park crew, along with team members will be posting here.

That's all for now!
